Claude Vivier 70/35 – a sacred act
“I want art to be a sacred act …”
Claude Vivier would have been 70 years old in 2018 – but it is also the 35th anniversary of his death. Vivier was murdered by a young prostitute in his Paris apartment. His compositions repeatedly contain biographical references. And so his violent death is also incorporated into his last work, Glaubst Du an die Unsterblichkeit der Seele (Do you believe in the immortality of the soul), as a premonition. This scenic evening sets off on a search for traces of Claude Vivier’s sound world and inner life.
