Techno has a long tradition in Berlin and is deeply rooted in the club culture. #beats: unitedberlin meets techno blends the club culture scene with the contemporary music scene.

ensemble unitedberlin discovers the techno scene. In cooperation between composer and techno artist Tsimtsum (Konstantin Heuer) and four composers of Berlin emerges a set of compositions for ensemble an beats. Based on an shared research interest in sound, colour, rhythm and spatiality all compositional approaches can be considered: works for ensemble on composed beat sequences, techno compositions over ensemble pieces previously composed for this occasion and works that grew in mutual exchange during the creational process.

Interesting questions will be: How does this exchange influence the thinking and the creating process of the artists? Which expectations in which sections of the audience will be fulfilled or defied? What will surprise us? Can techno be embedded in contemporary music without losing its original expressive powers?

The program will be framed by Tension by Vito Žuraj and a cover version of Autobahn by the electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk
