Resistance – when do we develop it, what era the chances of it? Exploring resistance is personal, social and political, and about abuse of the term as well.
Currently there are enough triggers for resistance between pandemic, worldwide conflict and protests to scrutinise.
Along this path composer Lutz Glandien and choreographer Jiří Bartovanec met amongst others the Résistance, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and George Floyd.
This cooperation resulted 2021 in a composition and choreography created especially for this space and location, based on a poem by Mireille Gansel. The work is an artistic research about the term resistance, against developments dividing societies. It wants to encourage and request to position oneself against injustice. It is realised by dancers from Czech Republic and Berlin, musically by Johanna Knauth (soprano) and the ensemble unitedberlin under the direction of Erich Wagner.
After the premiere had to be postponed due to the pandemic we are now happy to present the piece for the first time in front of a live audience in June 2022.
